24-hour telemetry is stored locally. HLS ladder full speed runs three outputs per channel; Single encoder mode runs one output per active channel and quality. Frame rate and speed describe the engine shared by those outputs. Missing readings are shown as unavailable.

Connect your apps to your household server with a secure address. Start here, then set each user’s bandwidth allowance below.
What is my public IP?
This checks the Internet-facing IPv4 address of your server, even when you open this dashboard from somewhere else.
Only checked when you press the button. Uses ipify; the lookup sends no account details. Results may be cached for five minutes.
Use this IP for your hostname’s DNS A record. Your app’s WAN address should be an HTTPS URL, such as https://tv.your-domain.com. The IP alone does not provide HTTPS.
My router shows a different WAN IP
Compare this result with your router’s Internet/WAN IPv4 address. A mismatch can indicate another router, CGNAT, or a VPN exit address. Addresses beginning 10., 192.168., 172.16–172.31, or 100.64–100.127 are not a public IPv4 address.
For two routers you control, forward through both or use bridge mode where appropriate. For ISP CGNAT, ask for a public IPv4 address or use a private VPN that supports your devices. An outbound VPN on the server may make this lookup show its exit IP instead of your home router.
Port forwarding, step by step
- Reserve your server’s LAN address. In your router’s DHCP settings, reserve the Unraid server address. Confirm the server connection shown above; Docker bridge addresses are not your router’s destination.
- Set up HTTPS. Use a reverse proxy with a valid certificate for your hostname, such as Caddy or Nginx Proxy Manager. Point its upstream to
http://YOUR-SERVER-IP:8791. The Home container itself serves HTTP. - Create the router rule. In NAT / Port Forwarding, forward external TCP 443 → your reverse proxy’s LAN IP and published HTTPS port. If the proxy also runs on Unraid, use its host port mapping; it may differ from 443. Forward TCP 80 only if your proxy’s certificate setup needs HTTP validation or redirects.
- Set your public hostname. Point its DNS A record to the public IP above. Use dynamic DNS if your ISP changes that IP. Use a hostname for your household;
gamedaygrid.tvis the central sports API. - Update the Home container. In Unraid → Docker → GameDayGrid Home → Edit, set
PUBLIC_ORIGINto your HTTPS URL and Apply. SetTRUSTED_PROXIESto the proxy’s exact backend IP or narrow CIDR, and have it forward the real client IP. - Connect and test. Turn off phone Wi-Fi and connect the GameDayGrid app using the HTTPS URL. Sign in or approve its QR request. Play a channel and confirm the dashboard labels the screen WAN. Test home Wi-Fi too; use split DNS or router NAT loopback if needed.
Router menu names vary. This guide does not change your router, issue certificates, or verify that an Internet port is open. Keep port 8791 on your LAN; expose the HTTPS proxy, never Unraid’s management page or the HDHomeRun.
Quick checks if remote viewing fails
Works on Wi-Fi only?
Check DNS, the router forwarding rule, your proxy’s published port, the host firewall and any ISP inbound-port restrictions.
Loads the page but not video?
Verify PUBLIC_ORIGIN uses the working HTTPS hostname, and that the proxy forwards every path, including /media/, without caching live playlists.
Remote viewer shows LAN?
Check the trusted proxy address and forwarded client IP before relying on WAN limits.
Public IP changed?
Update DNS or configure dynamic DNS. A successful IP lookup does not prove inbound reachability.

Set each user’s remote allowance.
Automatically lower quality as a user opens more remote streams. Local viewing keeps its selected quality.
Quality follows demand.
Estimates include audio and transport overhead. HLS ladder full speed lets players adapt between ready qualities. Single encoder mode selects quality from the viewer’s requested quality and per-user WAN allowance; a new engine can briefly buffer during quality changes. A user’s additional remote streams wait when their lowest quality will not fit. This is a per-user video payload cap. Several users can together exceed your ISP upload speed.
For a reverse proxy or tunnel, configure TRUSTED_PROXIES with its exact connecting IP/CIDR and forward the real client address. Verify that the dashboard identifies remote screens as WAN before relying on the cap.
Connect your HDHomeRun
No receiver connected.
Discovery uses your LAN. With Docker bridge networking, use the receiver address if broadcasts cannot reach the container. Only unprotected channels are listed.
Encoding runs automatically.
The server opens a channel when an app requests it. Viewers share one tuner input per channel. Choose HLS ladder full speed or Single encoder mode in Overview. Unused streams close after 45 seconds.
CPU encoding works without a GPU. Intel/AMD VA-API and NVIDIA NVENC require the matching Docker device configuration. No video is played on this dashboard.
